The Data Privacy Stewardship Manager will be a member of the US Commercial Data Governance team and partner with Commercial Data Product Owners to ensure that Data Governance controls and solutions are executed effectively by US Commercial Tech especially in the Privacy compliance domain. Manager role will help ensure all US Commercial data is owned, cataloged, protected, and processed with quality and accuracy.

The Data Privacy Stewardship Manager will curate the overall approach and vision for processes specific to Privacy Compliance for US Commercial Data Tech. Manager role is accountable for assessing the current state situation for priority data processes against local US laws in order to identify areas in need of governance improvement. They should be able to regularly update US Data Governance Council on any developments in situation of US State and Federal Privacy laws and will be responsible to provide visible privacy-awareness within the US Commercial organization. Manager role will recommend updates to current processes based on requirements of changing state and federal privacy laws then partner with GSK Tech and business teams to guide implementation of those recommendations. In addition, Manager will be accountable for US Tech Privacy Training components of the governance program.

The Data Privacy Stewardship Manager will be owner of US Commercial Data Use Case Process documentation, tools and templates and steward these framework items.

The Data Privacy Stewardship Manager shall consult with US Commercial Data Product Owners, Managers, Data Owners as well as Commercial Privacy and Legal teams to implement and maintain compliant and effective solutions. Manager will provide guidance to minimize privacy risk by ensuring Privacy by Design concepts are utilized and Tech Controls are effective, especially Privacy Compliance Controls. They will work with US Commercial Data SMEs, Data product Owners, Data management teams and solutions architects and have significant input to design and solutions.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Champion Data Privacy Awareness and Change enablement of Data Governance framework including as it pertains to Data Catalog, Data Quality, GSK Tech Controls, ITIL Service Management and ITIL Asset Management.

  • Lead US Commercial Data Privacy Activities and awareness and solution initiatives in Data Cataloging. Work collaboratively with Commercial Data Product Owners, Enterprise tool owners and external vendors to solution initiatives for a sustainable data privacy program.

  • Subject Matter Expert for US Data Privacy practice which includes administration of a local control structure.

  • Accountable for US Commercial Use Case process where data management requirements are translated to a description of how information and analytics must be used in real world application and facilitated into control design.

  • Participate in GSK Global Privacy Training initiatives and ensure local Tech Training is established and effective.

  • Act as expert consultant and collaborate with Data Product Managers to implement Privacy by Design and Tech Controls in compliance with organizational standards.

  • Partner with US Commercial Data Product Owners and Data Owners ensure that access to sensitive data is restricted to only the proper stakeholders through the use of access policies and security measures such as encryption and tokenization.

  • Partner with Data Governance team to devise and implement solutions for Data Governance Initiatives (projects in DG scope such as data retention or privacy protection). This may include Collaboration with different commercial business areas and stakeholders to ensure consistent implementation of Data Governance principles/standards across target platforms.

  • Support the business to raise and mitigate risks in data management scope, and escalation of risk to appropriate governance forums when appropriate.

  • Lead compliance gap analysis and coordinate cross functional initiatives.

  • Provide project management support as needed.

  • Manage vendors and CWs as needed.

Why You?

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years of data management or compliance management experience

  • Experience as a Data Privacy Analyst and/or in Data Governance practice

  • 5+ years' pharma, healthcare, or master data management experience

  • Knowledge of data structures, systems, and analytics tools relevant to data management and usage, especially within healthcare

  • Knowledge of Agile values and principles with process experience in Scrum or Kanban methodologies to promote effective ways of working

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years' experience of Data Modelling, Metadata Management

  • Privacy-specific certifications (IAPP Certifications) such as CIPP or CIPM

  • Experience with HIPAA Privacy Rule Expert Determination practices, output and reporting

  • Strong problem definition and problem-solving skills

  • Good business and data analytical skills

  • Experience in various software designs, languages, and architecture, tech security.

  • Experience managing vendor partner teams

  • Experience and knowledge of cloud computing architecture

  • Experience managing large or complex organizational initiatives ensuring delivery through people, processes and systems.

  • Knowledge of GSK Smart Controls and resulting requirements; along with associated documentation, SOP's and policies

  • Practical experience in project management

  • Strong project management skills and ability to direct technical teams including contract developers and technical writers
