JOB FUNCTION:

This position provides technical direction and support in the development and support of IBM Mainframe systems software and procedures. Position will be responsible for analysis, design, programming, and implementation on complex tasks and projects involving the IBM Mainframe and a sizable group of users.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plays a key role as an individual contributor on complex IBM Mainframe related projects and coordinates phases of larger projects.
  • Studies affected functions, analyzes existing procedures and alternatives, and designs complex IBM Mainframe related technical configurations and plans.
  • Develops and produces specifications and procedures, or oversees their development and production, for IBM Mainframe systems software and programs.
  • Works with senior management to interpret and analyze complex and unstructured business problems and recommend solutions.
  • Oversees systems development and enhancement and the integration of new IBM Mainframe related systems with the existing systems.
  • Recommends new technology and related programs to current systems.
  • Provides guidance to and, in some instances, supervising lower-level software programmer/analyst and programmers.
  • Provides technical assistance to IBM Mainframe applications programmer/analysts, computer operations personnel, and other areas as required.
  • Performs other related job duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Incumbent is required to comply will all applicable federal, state and local banking and industry related laws and regulations including but not limited to the bank Secrecy Act.
  • Incumbent is responsible for organizational integrity and business ethics as it relates to this position, and communicating this commitment to any applicable subordinates.

  • Incumbent may have access to cash, customer accounts and/or sensitive and confidential information.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Information Technology related Bachelor of Science degree and 8 years of related experience or an equivalent amount of training and experience to such as a High School Diploma combined with 10 years of directly related experience.
  • 10 years of experience working as an IBM Mainframe systems programmer. Prior experience as a mainframe CICS systems programmer would be a plus.
  • Experience working with in an IBM z/OS Sysplex environment.

MINIMUM REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Superior knowledge of computer programming, with emphasis on IBM Mainframe systems software.
  • Knowledge of IBM Mainframe applications and systems.
  • Knowledge of complex banking applications and programming needs.

MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to use MS Office Software Products such as Visio, Project, Word, PowerPoint and Excel proficiently.
  • Excellent programming skills, with emphasis on IBM Mainframe systems software.
  • Superior IBM Mainframe applications and systems manipulations skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to Multi-task.
  • Strong consultative and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational/planning/project management skills.
  • Detail oriented.

ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to provide after hours/on-call support. 24/7 coverage for production down issues.
  • Ability to work under stress, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard if required to perform the essential job functions.
  • Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions.
  • Ability to travel, if required to perform essential job functions.
  • Required to work for up to 8 consecutive hours in data centers with temperatures averaging 68 to 75 degrees with over 50% humidity.
